We are recruiting a Line Manager to the R&D Meeting and Event team. A subject matter expert, leading a team of specialists, delivering internal meeting & events. Sets standards within the team to deliver a high quality service for customers and an effective partnership with the local site services organisation. Builds strong collaborative partnerships with other administration functions, the Global Congress and Conference Team and key stakeholders to ensure meeting owners can focus on meeting content and bringing medicines to patients.



Delivery of specific events through application of their specialist knowledge is a significant part of their role.



Main Duties and Responsibilities

Manages resourcing and allocation of meetings through assignment of team members to deliver cost effective and professional internal meetings and events, covering project management of logistics and production. Develops and maintains an overview of activity to enable resource allocation, using judgement about available capacity, capability and what is in-scope for the team.



* Leadership of a team of M&E administrative coordinators handling all aspects of performance management across the hubs
* Recruitment, development, retention, and talent management of staff, including succession planning.
* Maintain an overview of demand for internal M&E to enable allocation and prioritisation of work
* Lead the delivery of logistics and production of internal meetings through effective project management
* Proactive involvement in the development and maintenance of M&E processes and initiatives. Serve as an ambassador for best practice by leading and contributing to activities and projects within the business
* Lead the deployment of new processes within the team and act as a role model providing guidance and on-the-job coaching to team members
* Seek out and introduces new technology-based solutions, training and mentoring of other administrators to use technology related to M&E systems
* Drive a culture of continuous improvement and ensures that inefficient business processes or identified problems and opportunities are raised to accountable persons
* Maintain and develop expertise in appropriate IT systems to ensure efficient use
* Possess in depth business understanding and use this knowledge to add value and propose improvements to existing processes and create new processes when appropriate
* Provide guidance/coaching and mentoring to colleagues where required
* Plan and lead training and development initiatives for administrators
* Work collaboratively with other administrators across the organisation to share knowledge and develop effective networks
* Build strong links and work collaboratively with facilities management to enable the effective delivery of high quality internal events



Essential Requirements

* 5 or more years of relevant administrative experience with proven career progression
* Experience in delivering Meetings and Events internally in AZ
* Experience working in a fast-paced global environment balancing competing priorities
* Experience of working across functions and geographies
* Excellent organisational skills, able to proactively prioritise & manage a high volume of activities simultaneously
* Ability to communicate effectively and confidentially with local and global leaders
* Provide a high quality, professional support service, working proactively and independently without day to day direction
* Able to challenge the status quo, think beyond boundaries of own role and act upon opportunities to work more effectively and seek opportunities for continuous improvement
* Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet changing business demands
* Excellent team working, networking and influencing skills to develop solutions
* Demonstrated proficiency with a variety of virtual meeting technologies, information management software, and Microsoft products
* Proficiency in English, written and spoken as the AZ business language



Desirable Requirements

* Experience of working in a pharma or healthcare environment
* Experience from working with project management
* Line management experience
* A high degree of personal credibility when interfacing with organisations internal and external to AZ
